[Exploration] Trailblazer's Cutie Mark (+5) affects your roll. You roll a 3 +5 (10 required). Partial success.
Before leaving, you ask Honourshine if she's tried showing the bell to Twilight Sparkle. As a princess and a librarian, there's a chance she might catch something other ponies have missed.
Honourshine: "I did when I applied for a sponsorship yesterday. She said she could sense something magical about it, but couldn't figure out what kind of magic it was. Nothing our eyes and ears couldn't already tell, really."
If not even the magically talented alicorn could help, then you hope that the Kirin and their magic will be able to provide a new perspective on this mystery. But until then, you have the whole day to yourselves!
You suggest taking a stroll through town, and keeping an eye out for a place to further catch up over a meal later. Your party agrees, and you exit the guild hall together.
The outside air has since been warmed by rays of bright sunshine. All around Ponyville, trees with leaves of burning colours contrast beautifully with the deep blue sky, and swirling white clouds drift along a gentle, aromatic breeze.
You begin your walk headed southwest, down the road from which you came earlier. To the south is an antique store — much larger than the one you visited in Coltswell, by the looks of it —, and just around the corner is a modest thrift shop.
Honourshine: "That's a rare sight: a thrift shop that isn't a Trading Post."
You nod, and figure that Ponyville is a large enough community for a local thrift shop to be successful.
Honourshine: "Large and generous enough. The Canterlot elite don't donate their secondhoof goods so much as they auction them off."
As you continue westward through a mostly residential area, you pass by a garden centre. Hundreds of colourful pots and seasonal plants decorate the shop's outdoor front, while carts stand ready to be loaded with bags of soil along the far fence.
Moonflower: "Oooh! Gotta check this place out when we got more time."
Further west is a barbershop — the closest to your home, as far as you know, should you ever need a new hairstyle. And across the street, you recognize the road to Sunny Smiles's house, where you delivered a package from Roseforge a while back.
Moonflower: "Ooh, I remember that!"
Honourshine: "A delivery? You really do take every odd job you can find, don't you?"
You grin, and tell Honourshine that helping everyone you can is a great way to meet new ponies and make new friends. And besides, aren't most jobs about delivering something or other?
Honourshine: "Hmm... I... I'll tell you that you are wrong as soon as I think of a refutation."
Moonflower: "Heehee..."
You circle back to the northeast, and pass by a large three-storey building — Ponyville's inn. You ask Honourshine if this is where she is staying.
Honourshine: "It is. Not as quiet as I'd like, but at least I get my own room."
You'd offer her to stay at your place for now, but having only one bedroom — let alone one bed —, you know better than to try that one again.
Finally, you find a small roadside café with a terrace nearby. While it doesn't seem too busy for now, you remember Honourshine's aversion to public eateries all too well; specifically the public part. For her to be comfortable enough to eat, you'll have to think of something more private.
You have explored Northern Ponyville! While in the area, your mental map will be displayed on the Map screen unless you find a better one.

More lore about the Trading Post company that owns a lot of the general stores that Apple Basket has "family ties" to. For some reason, I never made that connection before!
We'll have to renovate our house (which I believe we last thought about in 2016-01-11) or get much closer to Honourshine in order to efficiently house our party together.
A couple unlabeled things that might be divined from the map: a running track (from Hurricane Fluttershy?) and a pool, stands, and diving tower (from Leap of Faith?). I believe the Everfree Forest and Hoofington are south of us; to the north I assume are rolling hills and plains.
That’s something to worry about after our current adventure and until we know whether or not she is going to stick around. Besides Ponyville is only a short flight away from Hoofington. So I don’t understand what’s the problem if she’s not living with us. And if she decided to move in with us, we just have to buy another bed.
As for whether she'll stick around... The romantic/idealist in me says we're meant to be together, even if not romantically. (The party members page says "she and you always work best together.") Or at least as long as there are no other leads for the bell mystery. We just have to not annoy her by flirting with her 😆.
Personally I’m indifferent about Blazer's gender. As I said before, this feels more like a cosmetic choice to me than anything else. The only thing it may affect is which characters we're able to seduce. But so far we haven’t met a single character who wasn’t into Blazer because of his gender.
As for why anyone would choose to become a stallion: d20 Pony started with a predefined character, and choices were added throughout the story to offer full customization (while remaining in-universe). Considering Trailblazer's personality and friends, some players decided that a stallion's body best befits the character.
Note that much like hair dye, this customization option is designed to be long-lasting yet reversible (under certain conditions, as to prevent reversals every other turn), as well as mechanically relevant.
Naturally, changes to the character are bound to upset some people for one reason or another — the recent transformation into an alicorn comes to mind. On that matter, I find it unfortunate that it bothers you, and I hope that you understand how it is impossible to please everyone!
