A new day dawns upon the festive town of Hoofington. The sun shines in the fair morning sky, and birds begin to sing their autumn song. You wake up after a good night's sleep, snuggled up warmly against Moonflower and Apple Basket.

Moonflower: "Mornin'! Heehee... comfy."

Apple Basket: "Oh, uh, sorry! Guess I was havin' a nice dream jus' now."

You take a moment to stretch and yawn, and rub the sleep out of your eyes. The air in the room has grown a bit cooler than the night before, making you and your friends reluctant to leave the comfort of your blanket. Still, after some greeting hugs and nuzzles, you slide out of bed.

Apple Basket: "Hooie! It sure got chilly all o' a sudden."

You concur, and after making your way downstairs to the living room, you huddle together on the soft green rug. It's not quite cold enough to start a fire, but you are more than happy to share some body heat.

Apple Basket: "So, how'd everypony sleep?"

You mention that you dreamed about Moonflower, and that her presence was unlike anything you'd ever felt in a dream before.

Moonflower: "Ooh, it was me! I dunno how to make shared dreams jus' yet, but I can go into somepony else's dreams one at a time!"

Apple Basket: "What was it about?"

You rub your cheek with a hoof as you try to recall the details. With Moonflower's help, you are eventually able to piece it back together, and describe your encounter with the imaginary group of extra friendly diamond dogs.

Moonflower: "... But there were too many of 'em, so we had to take on three each! At the same time! And then more showed up before we were done, so we had to—"

Apple Basket: "I-I think I get the picture! Sweet Celestia..."

Moonflower: "Heeheehee!"

Before the colt's blush threatens to colour his very coat, you ask him about his own dream.

Apple Basket: "Heh, well, I guess that's fair. It was, uh... you two gals were there, and we were back home at the farm. Except Blazer was a stallion, like when you're wearin' that ring.

I don't remember everythin' about it, but y'all had just met my cousin Honeycrisp, and she was real fond o' Blazer. So we went on some sorta double date in Saddleshire, I think."

Moonflower: "Yuh uh! I dunno how double dates work, but we kinda traded partners halfway through, and—"

Apple Basket: "Whoa Nelly! I forgot you were really there! Shucks. I uh, I dunno how I feel 'bout that. But after hearin' about your dream, I reckon that was all jus' Moonflower havin' a bit of fun, right? Heh!"

Moonflower: "Heehee! I can't control what ponies dream about, ya know. That was all you!"

Apple Basket: "... Oh."

You give the mortified Apple Basket a comforting pat on the back, and in your best stallion impression, tell him that you can't wait to meet his cousin. The room erupts into laughter at that.

Moonflower: "But it's okay! Dreams can be kinda weird sometimes, and it doesn't have to mean anythin'! Princess Luna said they're made from pieces of memories, so when you put 'em together, sometimes you get somethin' super wacky."

Apple Basket: "That's good to hear. I think. Uh, mind if I take a shower real quick? I think I need a cold one. To... get in the spirit of the festival!"

Though Apple Basket's poor justification is easily betrayed by his own stiff body language, you let him retreat to the wet room nonetheless. In the meantime, you begin to think about what to do with your morning; you have almost two hours until the festival officially begins, and a buffet waiting for you then.
