As the time of the festival's opening ceremony steadily approaches, you put away the book, and start getting ready for the day. While your companions gather their bags, you put on your fashionable hairpin.

You equip Star Hairpin.

Once everypony is ready, you open the door, and step outside into the morning sunlight. A cool breeze greets you, carrying the refreshing smell of autumn. With your friends close behind, you begin to walk along the road to the town square, all the while taking a good look around.

You find the streets decorated with numerous hoof-drawn banners, colourful pennant flags, and themed string lights. At every corner, balloon-adorned wooden signs invite one and all to events to come all over Hoofington.

Apple Basket: "Looks like lots o' ponies are gonna be attendin' the festival today."

Moonflower: "Eeeeee‼ It's gonna be so much fun!"

You nod in agreement. Hundreds of ponies await the top of the hour in anticipation, taking in the sights around town in the meantime. As you arrive at the town square, you recognize a few faces here and there.

  • An outdoor stage sits in front of the town hall, atop of which Lucky Smith is helping some technicians with their equipment tests.
  • Next to the stage, Windcaller is engaged in conversation with a small group of ponies, all of whom appear to be musicians.
  • A few pegasi fly overhead, headed in the direction of the park. Among them, you recognize Blossomforth's distinct colours.
  • By the southern road, Crystal Charm and her brother Diamond Aegis are chatting next to a cart filled with sparkling gemstones.
  • A bit further away, in the shade of a tree, a couple of elderly ponies are enjoying the company of the wise Zecora.
  • Across the town square to the west, Moondancer and Dawn Break are gathered in front of a posting board, consulting the festival's schedule well in advance.
  • For just a moment, you catch a glimpse of a suspiciously familiar cap-wearing filly weaving through the crowd.
